Something was hiding inside the shelf.

ZIPTACLE is a functional floating shelf built around one ridiculous idea: what if the outside of the shelf could actually unzip and reveal the creature living underneath?

A bright orange zipper tears open the black outer shell, exposing wrinkled purple skin, a huge neon eye, and a thick tentacle curling out from inside. From across the room it looks like a strange piece of creature art. Up close, all of the little details start to show.

And despite all of that chaos, the entire upper surface remains a clean, flat, usable shelf.

🐙 Designed for Multicolor Printing

ZIPTACLE was created specifically to take advantage of modern snapmaker multi-color and multi-toolhead FDM printers.

The design uses four bold color zones:

The large separated color regions make this a particularly fun showcase model for multi-toolhead machines, where each tool can stay dedicated to a color and dramatically reduce the purge-heavy workflow normally associated with complex multicolor prints.

Features

Actual Functional Shelf: The upper platform stays completely flat and usable for collectibles, controllers, figures, retro tech and display pieces.
Unzipped Creature Illusion: A sculpted zipper appears to physically open the outer shell of the shelf.
Massive Tentacle: The oversized curling tentacle creates the silhouette that makes the design recognizable even from across the room.
Layered Creature Detail: Raised skin folds, zipper teeth, dimensional eye geometry and suction cups reward closer inspection.
Four-Color Design: Built around large, intentional color regions rather than tiny decorative color changes.
Floating Wall Display: The mounting structure is hidden behind the sculpture so the creature remains the focus.
Functional Sculpture: Equal parts wall art, conversation piece and actual storage/display space.

🔩 Installation

Mount ZIPTACLE using hardware appropriate for your wall construction.

For drywall installation, use properly rated wall anchors or fasten directly into a stud whenever possible. Always confirm the shelf is securely mounted before loading it with display items.

The black / orange / purple / acid-green combination gives ZIPTACLE its Halloween-monster personality, but the model begs for remixes.

Make yours weird.
